Congratulations on your engagment! Now what..

Congratulations to all of the new brides who became engaged this 2011 holiday season!  What an exciting time for you!  However the next question is:  “Now what?”

First and foremost, take a deep breath and relax for a couple of weeks, enjoy your time with your new “fiance”, I know… it sounds funny to say that now right??  Take the time to reflect on the most exciting time in your life and enjoy it!

1.)  Once those few weeks have passed, then you may want to think about what you and your fiance want to do for your wedding, destination, hometown, big, small, indoor, outdoor, beach, mountains, helicopter (just kidding)

2.)  Discuss your budget, everyone has one so it’s very important to know how much you want to contribute and how much your families will contribute.  Be idealistic when you talk about this.

3.)  Talk with your families to see what their thoughts are, combine your ideas and theirs and see what comes to the table, brainstorming can be fun!

5.)  Discuss with each other what is important to you both while planning your wedding, be open minded to each other.  Talk about what your families might expect, discuss important traditions that you would like to add to the wedding.  Talk about areas that you would like to splurge.  I always ask my new brides and grooms what are the top three things that are important to you.. ie; Band, Photographer, Food and Wine etc.  Start with those three and circle back around in a couple of months to see if those are still your top three.  If they are then that’s where your budget should be spent.

5.)  Guest List, this is a big one too.  Until you know your numbers you won’t know what your realistic budget is or where it can be held.  A great way to narrow this down is you, your fiance, your parents and future in-laws should make a list, separately,  then sit down and talk about where you can cut.  Remember this is a wedding, not a corporate function.  Invite people that you really want to be there, that you can’t imagine celebrating without.

6.)  Most venue’s that are popular to have your wedding reception can book up atleast 12+ months out, so make a list of your favorite places, look at the dates you want and call to see if those dates are available.  Most places will allow you to put a soft hold on the date.

7.)  Hire a wedding planner!

Remember throughout this process to take one day at a time and the true focus on why you are having this wedding, everything always works out in the end!

We are booking for 2012 & 2013 weddings!  We look forward to hearing from you!

Style Me Pretty Wedding Featured

We love as a Little Black Book member when Style Me Pretty posts our weddings!   We coordinated Amy and Neil’s wedding this September of 2011 at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch.  One of our favorite venues to work with!  The simplicity of this wedding made it stunning!  We dealt with some weather issues throughout the day, but as Colorado weather does, the clouds and rain parted and allowed our bride and groom to have their ceremony on the skier bridge!  We couldn’t have been more happy for them!

We will be upstairs showcasing our fabulous vintage blush vingette!  Come see us..

And frost it pink they did! When you love something, go for it, especially as romantic and classically girly a shade as these lovely ladies have picked! Take your floral to full tilt and show lush gardenscapes across the table, studded with lights to make it glow. Again, balance is the key to good design, and the striking architectural lines of aspen trunks and twigs strung with delicate crystals give the design a whole other dimension. One of my favorite ideas is the spectrum of colors, so sophisticated to involve a whole broad palette of colors from dusky charcoal and chocolate all the way through soft blushes.
Also, look how timeless the elegance is in this board, the whole feeling transcends time and will still look gorgeous in 20, 30, 50 years! How important is being timeless to you? Keep this in mind from the very beginning, and invest in classics if it is, allow yourself to be adventurous if it isn’t.
